Urgent News 24 Dec 04 - 1445 GMT

There has been a problem which has corrupted the files used to host this site. As a result it has had to be taken offline and will remain so for up to 48 hours. Hopefully it will be possible to reinstate the site sooner. There is a chance that all user data and stored messages will be lost but I am trying to make sure that doesnt happen. More news will follow as soon as it is available.

I have made some improvements now, but it seems very likely the software will have to be re-installed and the old backups will be lost. The net effect could mean a site starting from scrath.

Some good news. I have got 95% of the site reconstructed now. It looks like there is a very good chance that the board data will remain intact, as far as I can see at the moment there is only one stumbling block. For some reason the database is refusing to access one of its files - however that is pretty much the main file for most of the forum or PM functions. I am still working on resolving this and will post here as and when there are updates.

Despite earlier optimisim, it seems harder than earlier signs would have led me to belive. There is a major problem with the .htaccess functions and neither I, nor my helpful web friend can seem to solve it in time for Christmas. Its unlikely any work will be done on it tomorrow - unless my webmaster is going to tear himself away from his family. With luck, this should be resolved by 1600 GMT Boxing day (or he doesnt get paid :-) )
